Join Metropolitan Nathanael and a panel of professional Orthodox Christians for a discussion on the Myrrh-bearing Women and their impact on the special ministry of women in the Church for the past two millennia.

About our guest participants:
Prof. Valerie Karras: Valerie is a retired professor of historical theology and church history with expertise and numerous academic publications in the areas of women in the early and Byzantine church, the theology of sex and gender in the Greek Fathers, and Orthodoxy in ecumenical and interfaith relations. She has earned doctorates from The Catholic University of America and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and has taught at several institutions, including Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Saint Louis University, Southern Methodist University, and Washington University.

Anne Marie Adams: Anne Marie leads a graduate program at Northwestern University where she implements academic programming and advises graduate students, manages both academic and financial operations, and oversees student affairs. Anne Marie's PhD research in Curriculum Studies focuses on the identity construction of Greek Orthodox women at the intersection of gender, religious and spiritual identity formation.

Rachael G. Pontikes: Rachael is a partner in the Life Sciences Health Industry Group of the Chicago office of Reed Smith, where she represents health care entities, including compounding pharmacies, in disputes with the state and federal agencies, counsels these health care entities regarding compliance with state and federal healthcare laws, and leads the health care aspects of corporate transactions. As a dedicated advocate for women, Rachael has in her pro bono practice assisted domestic violence victims obtain political asylum and trafficked women expunge their prostitution convictions.
