Holy Cross Launches New One-Year Certificate Program
Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is launching a new one-year program in the 2020-2021 academic year: the Certificate in Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Leadership. The program is designed for those who have completed their bachelor’s degrees and wish to deepen their theological knowledge while developing skills and understanding necessary for effective ministry to young people.

The Certificate program consists of two full semesters of coursework at the master’s level combined with an intensive work study component, which will be conducted through the Office of Vocation and Ministry’s CrossRoad Summer Institute and Telos Project, giving participants intensive, mentored training as they deepen their theological knowledge and spiritual formation. By the end of the program, students should be able to demonstrate a basic familiarity with Orthodox theology and history; articulate a framework for how Orthodox thought and life will guide their own personal lifelong spiritual and vocational growth; and think theologically and critically about the Orthodox Christian tradition, both historically and within the contemporary Church and society.
This program is a singular opportunity for anyone aspiring to work with youth at the parish, diocese, or metropolis level. In addition to expanding each student’s theological knowledge and aiding exploration of vocation, the program’s work study component provides invaluable practical training through the OVM in specific areas, including administration, development/fundraising, communications, and photography/media.
Thanks to generous funding from Leadership 100, several full-tuition scholarships are available for new students who are accepted into the program. Review of applications will begin on June 1, 2020.
