Today, November 30, the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, celebrates with joy and gratitude the Feast Day of its patron saint, the apostle Saint Andrew the First-Called, who is the patronal saint of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
The Ecumenical Patriarchate honored the memory of its founder, the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. On Monday 30 November 2020, a solemn Divine Liturgy was presided by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in concelebration with their Eminences Metropolitans Theoleptos of Iconium and Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria in the Patriarchal Church of St. George, at the Phanar. The homily was preached by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Ioakeim Billis.
The Archbishop of America stated via his social media that “On this Feast of the See of the First Throne of Orthodoxy – let us rejoice in the ministry of the successor to St. Andrew, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The ministry of St. Andrew is one of love, of conciliation, and of renewal. Many Years!”.
Within the framework of the traditional exchange of delegations for the respective feasts of their patron saints, on 29 June in Rome for the celebration of Saints Peter and Paul and on 30 November in Istanbul for the celebration of Saint Andrew, Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, led the Holy See's delegation for the feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Cardinal was accompanied by Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary, and Monsignor Andrea Palmieri, Under-Secretary.
