PATRIARCH DANIEL THANKS POPE FRANCIS FOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DONATED TO SUCEAVA HOSPITAL

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked Pope Francis in a letter sent on April 23 for the medical equipment donated to the St John the New Hospital in Suceava.

The donation, consisting of five lung ventilators, 200 overalls, 900 FFP2 masks, and 5,000 sanitary masks, was offered on the feast day of Saint George the Trophy-bearer, Pope Francis’ name-day.
Suceava county has been the hardest-hit in Romania by the new coronavirus pandemic, which is why it has also been referred to as Romania’s Lombardy.
Suceava county has recorded almost a quarter of all COVID-19 cases confirmed in Romania and the highest number of victims.
It is “a beautiful sign that falls on this particular day when the Holy Father does not receive a gift but gives it to others”, said Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Papal Almoner, speaking of the imminent delivery, which he calls “an embrace of the Pope in a difficult situation for the whole world”.
