PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK – On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the Holy Eparchial Synod convened via teleconference, in order to be informed and to discuss significant matters that affect the Archdiocese of America, and unanimously decided the following:

1. Following detailed presentations on the financial effects of the spread of coronavirus and taking into account the ongoing efforts to minimize expenses, the Hierarchs of the Holy Eparchial Synod will offer 20% of their wages for the next three months towards the financial support of the Holy Archdiocese.

2. At the request of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, the Synod approved the sacred service of Holy Supplication (Paraklesis) for the protection, health and salvation of the people from the dangerous pandemic, which was recently compiled with by His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes. Additionally, the Synod commissioned the V. Rev. Archimandrite Spyridon Kezios with the task to complete an English translativideo format and posted on the internet for the spiritual benefit of the people.

3. It was decided to include the following tw was recently compiled with by His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes. Additionally, the Synoo petitions in “The Litany of Peace” of the Divine Liturgy and the other sacred services:

“For our deliverance from all affliction, wrath, danger and distress, and from the peril of the coronavirus against us, let us pray to the Lord.”

“For our brethren, those who lead the fight against the coronavirus, the doctors, the medical workers and the scientists, let us pray to the Lord.”

4. I was decided that the National Clergy-Laity Congress be postponed for one year, and that it will be rescheduled to a date and place to be announced in the near future.

ΔΕΛΤΙΟ ΤΥΠΟΥ

ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ: Την Τρίτη της 31ης Μαρτίου 2020 συνήλθε σε τηλεδιάσκεψη η Ιερά Επαρχιακή Σύνοδος, ώστε να ενημερωθεί και να αποφασίσει σχετικώς προς τα μείζονα τρέχοντα ζητήματα της Ιεράς Αρχιεπισκοπής, και κατέληξε στα εξής:

1. Κατόπιν εκτενούς ενημερώσεως περί των οικονομικών επιπτώσεων της εξαπλώσεως της πανδημίας του Κορονοϊού, αλλά και συγκεκριμένων μέτρων που λαμβάνονται για περικοπές εξόδων και για να ανταποκριθεί η Αρχιεπισκοπή στη δυσμενή κατάσταση, η Ιερά Σύνοδος απεφάσισε ομοφώνως την εθελούσια προσφορά του 20% των μισθών των Επαρχιούχων Μητροπολιτών για την ενίσχυση των αναγκών της Εκκλησίας για τους μήνες Απρίλιο, Μάϊο και Ιούνιο.

2. Ενέκρινε τον επίκαιρο ιερό Παρακλητικό Κανόνα, τον οποίο συνέταξε κατόπιν παρακλήσεως του Σεβ. Αρχιεπισκόπου ο Σεβ. Μητροπολίτης Ρόδου κ. Κύριλλος για την προστασία του κόσμου από την πανδημία που απειλεί την ανθρωπότητα. Περαιτέρω, η Σύνοδος ανέθεσε στον Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμ. κ. Σπυρίδωνα Καίζιο τη μετάφρασή του στην αγγλική. Τέλος, αποφάσισε τη δημιουργία ταινίας με την εν λόγω Ιερά Ακολουθία στις δύο γλώσσες και την ανάρτισή τους στο διαδίκτυο, προς πνευματική ωφέλεια των πιστών.

3. Αποφάσισε την προσθήκη των εξής αιτήσεων στα «ειρηνικά» της Θείας Λειτουργίας και όλων των Ιερών Ακολουθιών:

«Ὑπὲρ τοῦ ῥυσθῆναι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης θλίψεως, ὀργῆς, κινδύνου καὶ ἀνάγκης, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀπειλοῦντος ἡμᾶς λοιμοῦ τοῦ κορονοϊοῦ, τοῦ Κυρίου δεηθῶμεν», καί

«Ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν τῶν κατὰ  τῆς νόσου τοῦ κορονοϊοῦ ἀγωνιζομένων,  ατρῶν, νοσηλευτῶν καὶ ἐπιστημόνων, τοῦ Κυρίου δεηθῶμεν».

4. Την αναβολή της Κληροκολαϊκής Συνελεύσεως για το επόμενο έτος, σε χρόνο και τόπο που θα ανακοινωθεί στο εγγύς μέλλον.

Εκ της Αρχιγραμματείας της Ιεράς Επαρχιακής Συνόδου
