PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW, METROPOLITAN EPIFANIY HONOR FALLEN DEFENDERS OF UKRAINE AND HOLODOMOR VICTIMS

The second day of Patriarch Bartholomew’s visit to Ukraine started off with a tribute to the defenders who died for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, as well as a tribute to the victims of the Holodomor genocide of 1932-33.

This was reported by the OCU press service.

On August 21, on the territory of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met with His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and his entourage.

Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Epifaniy laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine and at the memorial to the victims of the Holodomor, the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

On Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 9:00, a solemn Divine Liturgy will take place in the open air, outside St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, co-led by the two heads of Orthodox Churches – His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphany of Ukraine.
