IERONYMOS TO EPIFANIY: WE DECLARE OUR RESPECT FOR THE UNCONQUERABLE MORALE OF THE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE

Translated in english by orthodox times

The President of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, sent today a letter to Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

In his letter, the Archbishop of Athens expressed the support and sympathy of the Church of Greece for the pious Orthodox People of Ukraine, who are suffering from the war of Russian troops and on the other hand declared the willing support and solidarity of the Church of Greece in humanitarian aid that will be requested on behalf of the sister Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Read below the letter of Archbishop Ieronymos to Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv:

“Your Beatitude, Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine I salute you.

With constant prayer and great attention, we are watching what is happening these days in Ukraine, from the war attack and the violent invasion of Russian troops.

Siding with the pious Orthodox People of Ukraine in this new ordeal and expressing our heartfelt brotherly understanding towards you, we declare our admiration for the flourishing and unconquerable morale of the Ukrainian people.

And we wholeheartedly wish and pray to the philanthropic God to enlighten those who started the war invasion and to revise their decisions, in order to choose the path of peaceful resolution of the existing differences between the two peoples, the Russian and the Ukrainian, who have the majority of the common Orthodox faith of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

We extend our condolences to you and the martyred people of the Orthodox Ukrainians. We stand in solidarity with you and assure you of the full support and all kinds of assistance of the Holy Church of Greece to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

We have already put all the facilities of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens at the disposal of the Greek State to accommodate, if necessary, refugees from Ukraine.

With this, we send a warm plea to the Lord of Peace to stop what is happening in your beloved homeland and embrace you with deep brotherly love.

Your beloved brother in Christ,
† Ieronymos of Athens, President of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece
