FURTHER UP & FURTHER IN: ANGLICANS & ORTHODOX IN CONVERSATION WITH CS LEWIS

Join us for an evening of conversation with CS Lewis featuring guest speakers from the Orthodox and Anglican traditions.
DR EDITH M. HUMPHREY is the William F. Orr Professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The author of seven books on the Bible and Orthodoxy, Dr Humphrey has just released a new book, Further Up and Further In, Orthodox Conversations with CS Lewis on Scripture and Theology. In this book, drawing on Lewis’s broad corpus, both his beloved classics and his less well-known writings, Humphrey brings Lewis into conversation with Orthodox thinkers from the ancient past down to the present day, on subjects as diverse and challenging as the nature of reality, miracles, the ascetic life, the atonement, the last things, and the mystery of male and female.

DR JOHN BOWEN is Professor Emeritus of Evangelism at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto. He taught evangelism at Wycliffe College in Toronto from 1997 till 2013. He retired at the end of 2016, and is now spending more time on the things he loves best—teaching, preaching, mentoring and writing. His areas of interest and expertise include evangelism and discipleship, congregational health, Gospel and culture, church planting and fresh expressions of church, as well as the writings of CS Lewis.

6pm - Orthodox service of the Great Blessing of Water (a Theophany/Epiphany season service that celebrates the glory of the incarnation and of God in creation, themes which were dear to CS Lewis)
