Patriarch Daniel sent condolences to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I on Wednesday, after His Eminence Kallistos, Metropolitan of Diokleia, reposed in the Lord. The Patriarch of Romania called the recently-departed hierarch “an old friend of our Church and of ours, personally”.

In this year’s Christmas message, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel emphasizes that Christmas urges us to pay more attention to children whose parents have gone to work abroad.
Speaking at an International Symposium dedicated to the pastoral care of Romanians abroad last week, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel stressed that “the Mother Church supports and encourages her spiritual sons and daughters from abroad and understands the difficulties they face in their struggle to ensure a better future.”
The Symposium combined a “live” in-person event at the Palace of the Patriarchate in Bucharest with a “virtual” online component.

In a message on Thursday, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel urged everyone to increase prayer during the pandemic. The Patriarch asked Romanians to follow the measures of sanitary protection and to listen to the advice of doctors.
“Christ does not ask us to carry the cross alone, but to carry the cross following Him, that is, asking for His help and carrying the Cross with Him,” Patriarch Daniel said on Sunday. On the Sunday after the Exaltation of the Cross His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel offered his reflections on the four stages of salvation.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel has urged Romanians living far from the country to stay in constant contact with their loved ones at home, cherish their family, and give a Christian education to the young generation.
