Panorthodox Synod, An International Forum for Theological Reflection and Discussion on the Holy and Great Council and Ecumenical Dialogue
In an interview on 11 May with EWTN News Nightly, Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, reflects on the question of the diversity in the date for the celebration of Easter, explaining the historical reasons underlying the disparity between Eastern and Western Christianity. Cardinal Koch also reflects on the possibility of all Christians to celebrate Easter on the same day, discussing the prospects for dialogue on this question.
On 18 February 2021 the Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, gathered in assembly in the Cathedral of Saint Sava in Belgrade, elected the new Patriarch of the Serbian Church, the Metropolitan of Zagabria and Ljubljana, Porfirije (Perić).

In cammino verso un grande anniversario
Within the framework of the traditional exchange of delegations for the respective feasts of their patron saints, on 29 June in Rome for the celebration of Saints Peter and Paul and on 30 November in Istanbul for the celebration of Saint Andrew, Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, led the Holy See's delegation for the feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Cardinal was accompanied by Bishop Brian Farrell, Secretary, and Monsignor Andrea Palmieri, Under-Secretary.
The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity has learned with great sadness of the death of His Holiness Irinej, Patriarch of the Serbian Church, who passed away on 20 November 2020.
From 6–9 October Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, visited Austria at the invitation of the Pro Oriente Foundation for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of its Salzburg section.
