Ecumenical Patriarch: Church of Greece will be the first to recognize the Church of Ukraine
The Ecumenical Patriarch was asked about the situation in Ukraine, the autocephaly status of the Orthodox Church, the recognition of the new Autocephalous Church, and the role of Moscow.
After journalists’ questions about offensive statements against the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which were allegedly made recently by a member of the autonomous presence of the Patriarchate of Moscow in Ukraine, the Director of the Press and Communication Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Nikos Papachristou, said:

The last months have been troubling for the six-month-old Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The 90-year-old bishop Filaret carrying the title of “Honorary Patriarch” despite the dissolution of his church structure to create the legitimate OCU independent from Moscow, had attempted a power grab and revoked the OCU’s very declaration of independence, or Tomos.

faithful to work together on issues such as welcoming migrants,
combating modern slavery, and protecting creation.

The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which took place
today, June 24, adopted a decision to subordinate all parishes and
monasteries of Kyiv to the Primate of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy.
Until recently, they had been subordinated to Patriarch Emeritus

four Primates of the Autocephalous Orthodox Churches in the Middle East
