On the evening of Wednesday, 7 May, in a brilliant ceremony, which was honoured with the distinguished and blessed presence of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, was conferred an Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Theology and the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies of the School of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
On Thursday evening, at the end of his address at the event organised in his honour by the Basil and Eliza Goulandris Foundation, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew referred to the new Pope of Rome, Leo XIV, whose name had been announced a little earlier.
