During this challenging time of the pandemic, our
nation is also confronting the effects of racial and ethnic inequality.
These disparities have deep roots in our national history and it calls
for deep changes in our hearts (repentance) and in our society. As we
engage in the transformative life of the Church, we are called to wisdom
by showing love and mercy while being bold when it comes to our faith
and the Holy Tradition.

METROPOLITAN GERASIMOS HIS EXCELLENCY ARCHBISHOP SALVATORE CORDILEONE ON HAGIA SOPHIA
The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San
Francisco mourn together as we witnessed the venerable Hagia Sophia converted to a mosque
and opened for Islamic prayer on July 24, 2020. This egregious decision continues to be
lamented throughout the world. In our mourning, we pray that this does not become the
harbinger of future acts in Turkey that place religious minorities at risk.

REFLECTION FOR THE FEASTS OF STS. PETER AND PAUL AND THE HOLY APOSTLES
Beloved Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
On June 29 the Church will celebrate the Feast of Saints Peter and
Paul, and on June 30 we will celebrate the Synaxis of the Holy Apostles.
A hymn from the Orthros for June 30 says about the Apostles: “You preached throughout the entire world that the eternal all-holy Trinity is in nature God.”
