WHY THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH HAS TURNED ON UKRAINE'S CATHOLICS
Tensions between Churches in Ukraine have risen sharply in recent
years because of Russia's annexation of Crimea and its incursion into
the east of the country. Different Churches are loyal to Moscow and
Kiev, and the country's bitter divisions are fought out among them as
well as in the political arena.

PAN-ORTHODOX COUNCIL: IT WILL GO AHEAD WITH OR WITHOUT YOU, THEOLOGIAN TELLS CHURCHES
The troubled Pan-Orthodox Council is set to begin on Saturday in
Crete, but without some key players. First envisaged 55 years ago, it
was designed to bring together all of the 14 autocephalous or
self-governing Orthodox Churches in the first such gathering since the 8th century.

significant 'Holy and Great Council' aimed at ironing out knotty
problems that have accumulated over the last few centuries.
