Panorthodox Synod, An International Forum for Theological Reflection and Discussion on the Holy and Great Council and Ecumenical Dialogue
Throughout its long history Orthodoxy has been linked – or, better, infused – with ethnicity; and this for multiple reasons. In the case of the Greeks, for instance, ethnicity found in Orthodoxy its best possible booster over against Western/Latin challenges; whereas, in the case of the Slavs, one can properly speak of their ethnic determination only through and thanks to Orthodoxy.
Το Σάββατο, 10 Δεκεμβρίου 2022, δεύτερη ημέρα των εργασιών του Διεθνούς Συνεδρίου του “World Policy Conference – For a Reasonably Open World” οι μετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να επικοινωνήσουν διαδικτυακά με τον Εξοχ. Υπουργό Εξωτερικών της Ουκρανίας κ. Dmytro Kuleba, ο οποίος αναφέρθηκε στην επικρατούσα κατάσταση στην Ουκρανία και απάντησε σε πλήθος ερωτήσεών τους.
Το βράδυ παρετέθη το επίσημο δείπνο του Συνεδρίου, στο οποίο κύριος ομιλητής ήταν ο πρώην Πρωθυπουργός της Γαλλίας Εξοχ. κ. Laurent Fabius, Πρόεδρος του COP21 και του Συνταγματικού Συμβουλίου της Γαλλίας, ο οποίος μετά την εισαγωγική ομιλία του απάντησε σε ερωτήσεις των συνδαιτυμόνων.
Σε νέα ηχηρή καταδίκη του πολέμου στην Ουκρανία προχώρησε η ο Οικουμενικός Πατριάρχης Βαρθολομαίος, σε ομιλία του, σήμερα, κατά την έναρξη του Διεθνούς Συνεδρίου «World Policy Conference - For a Reasonably Open World», που διεξάγεται στο Abu Dhabi, υπογραμμίζοντας ότι ο εν εξελίξει πόλεμος έχει οδηγήσει στον θάνατο χιλιάδες ανθρώπους, Ουκρανούς και Ρώσους, ενώ είναι ανυπολόγιστες οι καταστροφές σε υποδομές στο έδαφος της Ουκρανίας.

The theme was “Jewish-Orthodox Christian Dialogue: Navigating Our Relations to the World and to Each Other.” The Consultation was co-sponsored by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC).

Yesterday Archbishop Charles Scicluna and Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi welcomed His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew I at the Malta International Airport. This morning, the Patriarch and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by the Archbishop and a number of Maltese bishops at the Archbishop’s Palace in Mdina.

Il Patriarca Bartholomew I sarà il primo Patriarca della Chiesa cristiana ortodossa a visitare Malta tra il 4 e il 7 dicembre.
Some days ago, I friend of mine asked me in all sincerity: “Do you believe we will see a female priest in our lifetime within the Orthodox Church?” In a very natural way, so to speak, and rather instinctively I replied: ‘I don’t know about female priests, but I am pretty sure that we will see female deacons. We will definitely witness deaconesses in the Orthodox Church as it has been part of our tradition for centuries. It was never abolished but the practice ceased around the 12th century or so. Now is the time for its revival.’
