It
was a pleasure to welcome His All-Holiness, the Archbishop of
Constantinople and New Rome, and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at
Sant'Anton Palace on his first visit to Malta.
We had an interesting
meeting during which I referred to the active contacts maintained by the
Office of the President with different religious denominations in
Malta.
I also stated the values of tolerance and acceptance continue to
lie at the heart of the Presidency's outreach. We also discussed
irregular migration and condemned the ongoing war by Russia on Ukraine.
