The hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine spoke about this issue in an interview with DetectorUA.
“What is happening today in the church is also a kind of hybrid war because right now some people want to resurrect the Soviet Union, which has collapsed as a whole. However, if you look at the church environment, it turns out that the Russian Orthodox Church, which is still active in all the former Soviet states, is a remnant, a “cohesive element” of the Soviet Union, and, therefore, there is a great spiritual influence of the attacking country, which is Russia today,” said the Metropolitan.
“So why does the Church of Moscow in Ukraine, the so-called ‘Ukrainian Orthodox Church–Patriarchate of Moscow’ not accept the Orthodox Church of Ukraine? Precisely because some people really believe what they are told, while others just do their job, unfortunately. And we see it because this hybrid war continues on the spiritual front,” said Metropolitan Symeon.
He added that the parishioners who went to the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate understood this and left the church as soon as the sermon began.
These people say that “we only go for our Father, God, and then we leave because the sermon begins and this sermon is now political,” said Metropolitan Symeon.
