Archbishop Makarios of Australia was in the studio of the “Voice of Greece” and spoke about the relationship of the Orthodox Church with the Greek Diaspora, the initiatives to strengthen the ties of the Greek Orthodox, and what the role of the Church should be today.

The Archbishop of Australia referred to the war in Ukraine and the role of the Orthodox Church of Russia, criticizing its stance and aspirations for the creation of a third Rome and the effort to impose the Russian Church and make it a protagonist in the Orthodox Church.

“For the Orthodox Church, no war is justified. We cannot today have made a new theological finding of the war in Ukraine and speak of a holy war. They want to justify what is being done by the political leadership. That is the aim. They have always had this thought of being the third Rome, although I say it for our listeners to hear, there was no first Rome and no second Rome to go to the third Rome.
