The Faculty of Theology of the
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - observing the long standing tradition
of the International Conferences of Orthodox Theology that have been held in
the past decades - organized under the auspices of His All Holiness the
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the 8th International Conference of
Orthodox Theology in Thessaloniki from 21 to 25 May 2018, with the theme:
"The Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church: Orthodox Theology in the
21st century" and explored the implications of Synodality for the Church
and society in a pluralistic world. This significant Conference, given the
subsequent suspension of similar initiatives due to the pandemic, managed to
explore beforehand, in a responsible and representative way, the findings of
the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church held from 16 to 25 June
2016, in Kolymbari, Crete.
