The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Monday presided over a signing ceremony of the Patriarchal and Synodal Acts of inclusion of four new saints in the Orthodox Church’s liturgical calendar. The ceremony took place at Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George.
The Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod read out the acts of
canonization of the Holy Fathers of Mount Athos, Elder Daniel
Katounakiotis, Elder Joseph the Hesychast, Hieromonk Ephraim
Katounakiotis, as well as Metropolitan Kallinikos of Edessa and Pella.
Afterwards, the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Holy Synod’s Hierarchs signed the acts.
Additionally, a new Metropolitan of Metres and Athyra and three new
Bishops were elected by the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Holy Synod,
following a recommendation by the Patriarch.
