In connection with the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which was to a great extent based on the ideology of the ‘Russkiy mir’ (Russian world), Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (VOTA) of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in cooperation with education platform “ETHOS / God Against War” initiates an international theological conference entitled OR-THODOXY AND the “RUSSKIY MIR”: Threat to Orthodox Ecclesiology and Ideological Basis for Neo-Imperialism.
The conference's aim is to assess the "Russkiy mir" ideology, which has been formu- lated and promoted with participation of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
The conference will take place online on June 16, 2022.
The conference was envisioned by the resolution of the participants of the Round table "Understanding the Role of the ROC and the Ideology of 'Russkiy mir' in the Russian Military Aggression Against Ukraine”, which took place on April 20, 2022 at the Department of Scripture and Theology of VOTA.
Since historical, ecclesiological, canonical, and anthropological aspects of the ideology of the 'Russkiy mir' have not yet been studied sufficiently by the conciliar mind of the Church, such a conference aims to comprehensively analyze this ideology in terms of its historical length, modern forms of expression, and dangers that it presents. It also aims to suggest ways of resolving the 'Russkiy mir' problem in the spirit of Orthodox love and catholicity.
We cordially invite you to take part in this conference and to propose to the committee your theses on the issues which appeal to you the most.
Looking forward to hearing from you,With love in Christ,

Archpriest Volodymyr Vakin
Rector of the VOTA
