Father Boris Bobrinskoy – Eminent professor of theology and shepherd of souls: full text

We learned with great sorrow of the passing to the eternal places of Father Boris Bobrinskoy, a prominent figure in Orthodox theology in France and everywhere, who was a professor and dean of the Saint Sergius Institute of Orthodox Theology in Paris.
Father Boris, from a family of Russian emigration in the years after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, marked Orthodox theology, and not only, with his writings translated today into several languages.
For more than fifty years he was a professor of dogmatic theology, leaving behind essential writings for twentieth-century Orthodox theology on the mystery of the Holy Trinity, the mystery of the Church or the mystery of the Person of the Holy Spirit mostly translated into Romanian.
In 2002, Father Boris Bobrinskoy received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Faculty of Theology in Cluj-Napoca, in recognition of his contribution to the field of Orthodox theology.
Over the years he was the professor and doctoral supervisor of several hierarchs, priests or students of the Romanian Orthodox Church who attended courses at the Saint Sergius Institute in Paris.
Through his writings, he also contributed to the theological formation of many students of the theology faculties of the Romanian Patriarchate.
We pray to our Lord Jesus Christ to receive Him in His eternal light, revealed to us on Mount Tabor before His Passion, and to rest his soul with His holy servants in the kingdom of the Most Holy Trinity, which Father Boris has not ceased to seek and to preach throughout his earthly life.
May his memory be eternal from generation to generation!
With fatherly condolences and blessings for the bereaved,
† Daniel Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
