The decision
of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece regarding the recognition of
the new сhurch structure in Ukraine was commented by the Deputy Chairman
of the Department for External Church Relations of the Ukrainian
Orthodox Church (UOC), Archpriest Mykolay Danylevych:
«We believe that the decision of the Standing Holy Synod of the
Church of Greece is balanced. We are grateful to them for not wanting to
maintain a schism and understanding the risks of making a decision to
recognize the new church structure in Ukraine. We believe that it would
be more correct to resolve this issue at the Pan-Orthodox Council. I
would also like to note that if at least one Church recognizes the
Orthodox Church in Ukraine, this will lead to another wave of attacks on
our parishes in Ukraine. However, this wave will be much smaller,
because there is no longer such support for the schismatics from our
government like it was before».
