A monthly cycle of conferences dedicated to the encyclical Ut unum sint (1995) will be held during the 2019–2020 academic year at the Angelicum in order to mark 25th anniversary of its publication.
The initiative is being jointly promoted by the Saint Thomas Aquinas
Pontifical University and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian
Unity within the ambit of the “Tillard Chair”. The relators are all
leading figures in modern Christianity, and will speak on a range of
issues related to the encyclical and the ecumenical movement.
On 25 October at 5.30pm, Brother ENZO BIANCHI, Founder of the Bose Monastery, will hold the first conference on Ut unum sint: Point of arrival and point of departure.
The 2019–2010 cycle of conferences will also feature Dr MARIA MARIA
VOCE, President of the Focolare Movement; Revd OLAV FYKSE TVEIT,
Secretary General Secretary of the World Council of Churches; Cardinal
WALTER KASPER, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for
Promoting Christian Unity; His Beatitude SVIATOSLAV SHEVCHUK, Major
Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek–Catholic Church; Brother ALOIS, Prior
of the Taizé Community; Metropolitan KALLISTOS WARE of the Ecumenical
Patriarchate; Cardinal KURT KOCH, President of the Pontifical Council
for Promoting Christian Unity.
The "Tillard Chair", dedicated to ecumenism, was founded in 2003 at
the Angelicum in honor of the famous French theologian and ecumenist
Jean-Marie Tillard O.P. (1927-2000).
