Prayer services will be held in the churches of the OCU as a sign of prayerful solidarity with the Ecumenical Patriarchate
On July 24, 2020, Orthodox communities around the world will gather
to pray the Akathist to the Blessed Mother of God. Orthodox believers
will unite in prayer for the mercy of God and the intercession of the
Holy Theotokos at a time when the Mother Church, the Ecumenical
Patriarchate – as well as the whole world – is facing challenges related
to the re-transformation of the cathedral of Hagia Sophia of
Constantinople into a mosque.
As a sign of prayerful solidarity with the Ecumenical Patriarchate,
His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine has blessed
all parishes of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to hold a morning or
evening prayer service on July 24, 2020 for the reading of the
Akathist to the Blessed Theotokos.
