Lawyers of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine (the so-called UOC-MP) are suing almost every parish that has joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. But the OCU will win all the lawsuits because the truth is on their side.
This was stated in an interview with RBC Ukraine by the head of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy.
“Currently, the Moscow Patriarchate has filed lawsuits against virtually every parish that has joined our Church. But throughout this period, we have won almost all these cases because the truth is on our side, and, if the community wants to make a transition, it is legally entitled to do so,” said the Metropolitan.
The head of the OCU clarified what the Supreme Court means when addressing the won lawsuits. “There’s a feeling that the Supreme Court is the only place positively influenced by judicial reform, while at other levels, as we see, some inadequate decisions are sometimes made, suspending the transition of communities. But when it comes to the Supreme Court, it makes a fair and well-considered decision.”
He added that nearly 700 parishes have joined the OCU after the Unification Council on December 15, 2018.
It should be recalled that in the same interview, Metropolitan Epifaniy said there is no split in the Orthodox world – there is the ROC, which has severed ties with the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
