On the feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria and his 65th birthday, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa ordained the Abbot of the monastery, Father Germanos, Bishop of Tamiathus, at the Patriarchal Holy Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
The ordination was attended by many Hierarchs from the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Church of Greece.
In his homily, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria praised the newly
ordained bishop saying, “Today the Church of St. Mark is happy and
joyful because an excellent and experienced clergyman, His Grace Bishop
Germanos is included in its list of bishops.”
At the same time, the primate of the Church of Alexandria, referring
to the shrinking of the Greek community in Egypt, sent his own message:
“There were three hundred Greeks in Thermopylae, but they confronted the hordes of soldiers led by Darius. The Church of Alexandria went through fire and water many times, but “you brought us to a place of abundance.” Our Patriarchate will live because it is God’s will, as My Elder, Patriarch Parthenios, said.
