METROPOLITAN HILARION OF VOLOKOLAMSK MEETS WITH ARCHBISHOP CHRYSOTOMOS OF CYPRUS

On 17 September 2017, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations began his working visit to Cyprus. At the Larnaka airport Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk was met by Metropolitan Isaias of Tamassos and Oreini and Mr. Stanislav Osadchiy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus.

On September 18, the DECR chairman met with His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of New Justiniana and All Cyprus. On behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion invited the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus to visit Moscow and take part in the celebrations marking the centenary of the restoration of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church. The participants in the meeting also discussed various issues of bilateral relations between the Churches of Russia and Cyprus and the pan-Orthodox cooperation.
Among those in attendance were Metropolitan Isaias of Tamassos and Oreini and Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
That same day Metropolitan Hilarion departed for Istanbul.
