His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived earlier this morning in Bucharest to preside over the ceremony of the inauguration of the new Cathedral, which will be held the following Sunday. His Beatitude, Patriarch of Romania Daniel welcomed warmly the Ecumenical Patriarch upon his arrival at the airport of the capital of Romania.

His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople has arrived in Bucharest to lead the historic consecration ceremony of Romania’s National Cathedral, a memorial church built in honor of all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
Born Demetrios Archondonis in 1940 on the island of Imvros (today, Gökçeada, Turkey), His All-Holiness Bartholomew was elected in October 1991 as the 270th Archbishop of the 2000-year-old Church founded by St. Andrew, serving as Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch.
At 12.45 p.m., His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will welcome His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by a delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as well as a delegation of the Greek Orthodox Church, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patra, at the Patriarchal Cathedral.
On this occasion, the Greek Orthodox delegation will bring a reliquary containing the Honourable Hand of Saint Andrew, the Protector of Romania.
The reliquary will be enshrined at the Sts Constantine and Helen Patriarchal Cathedral until Saturday, at 16.00 p.m.

Βαρθολομαῖος, ἀνεχώρησεν ἀεροπορικῶς τήν πρωΐαν τῆς Παρασκευῆς, 23ης Νοεμβρίου, εἰς Βουκουρέστιον, προκειμένου ἵνα, κατόπιν ἀδελφικῆς προσκλήσεως τοῦ Μακ. Πατριάρχου Ρουμανίας κ. Δανιήλ, συμμετάσχῃ μετ’ Αὐτοῦ εἰς τά ἐγκαίνια τοῦ νεοδμήτου Πατριαρχικοῦ Καθεδρικοῦ Ναοῦ τοῦ Ρουμανικοῦ Ἔθνους, τήν προσεχῆ Κυριακήν, 25ην ἰδίου.
Κατά τήν ἐν τῇ Ρουμανικῇ Πρωτευούσῃ διαμονήν Του, ὁ Παναγιώτατος μέλλει ἵνα συναντηθῇ ἐν τῷ Προεδρικῷ Μεγάρῳ μετά τῆς Α. Ἐξοχότητος, τοῦ Προέδρου τῆς Χώρας κ. Klaus Werner Iohannis, ἐνῷ θά ἐκφωνήσῃ ἐπίσημον ὁμιλίαν ἐν τῷ Συνοδικῷ Μεγάρῳ ἐνώπιον τῆς σεβασμίας Ἱεραρχίας τῆς Ἁγιωτάτης Ἐκκλησίας Ρουμανίας.
Τήν Πατριαρχικήν Συνοδείαν ἀποτελοῦν οἱ Σεβ. Μητροπολῖται Γαλλίας κ. Ἐμμανουήλ καί Προύσης κ. Ἐλπιδοφόρος, οἱ Πανοσιολ. Μ. Ἀρχιδιάκονος κ. Θεόδωρος καί Μ. Ἀρχιμανδρίτης κ. Βησσαρίων, ὁ Αἰδεσιμολ. Πρεσβύτερος κ. Sergiu Mavsel Vlad, Ἱερατικῶς Προϊστάμενος τῆς ἐνταῦθα Ρουμανικῆς Παροικίας, καί οἱ Ἐντιμ κ.κ. Νικόλαος Παπαχρήστου, Διευθυντής τοῦ Γραφείου Τύπου τοῦ Οἰκουμενικοῦ Πατριαρχείου, καί Πέτρος Μπαζγκάρλο, ἐκ τῶν Γραμματέων αὐτοῦ.
Ὁ Παναγιώτατος θά ἐπιστρέψῃ, σύν Θεῷ, εἰς τήν Πόλιν τήν μεσημβρίαν τῆς Δευτέρας, 26ης ἰδίου, ἵνα προεδρεύσῃ ἀπό τῆς ἑπομένης τῶν ἐργασιῶν τῆς Ἁγίας καί Ἱερᾶς Συνόδου.
