We are weeks from experiencing a moment in history that will be
talked about for centuries to come. The Bishops of the 14 Autocephalous
Churches making up the Holy Orthodox Church will be gathering on
Pentecost to convene a Holy and Great Council.
We know our listeners have questions regarding the occasion so we’ve
invited His Eminence Metropolitan SAVAS of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis
of Pittsburgh to speak with us today.
Topics addressed include: the significance of having all 14
autocephalous churches in one place; issues unique to the diaspora,
those living outside Orthodox lands; the challenges of consensus; and,
moving the Church from a protective mode to a missionary expression.
